Classic Italian Lasagna Recipe
Ingredients:
To make a classic Italian lasagna, you will need the following ingredients:
— 1 pound of ground beef
— 1 onion, chopped
— 2 cloves of garlic, minced
— 1 can of crushed tomatoes
— 1 can of tomato sauce
— 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
— 1 teaspoon of dried basil
— 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
— Salt and pepper to taste
— 9 lasagna noodles
— 2 cups of ricotta cheese
— 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
— 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
— 1 egg
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the meat is browned and the vegetables are tender.
3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
4. In a separate bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, 1 1/2 cups of mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and egg.
5. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce.
6. Spread a third of the cheese mixture over the noodles, then top with a third of the meat sauce. Repeat these layers two more times.
7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
8. Remove the foil and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top. Bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serving:
Once the lasagna is done baking, let it sit for about 10 minutes before serving. This will help the layers set and make it easier to slice. Serve the lasagna with a side salad and some garlic bread for a complete Italian meal. Buon appetito!
