Granola and muesli are popular breakfast options that are not only delicious but also nutritious. Making your own homemade granola and muesli allows you to control the ingredients and customize the flavors to suit your preferences. Here are a few simple recipes to try at home:
Homemade Granola
- 3 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup nuts and seeds (such as almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds)
- 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup dried fruit (such as raisins, cranberries, apricots)
Preheat oven to 325°F. In a large bowl, mix oats, nuts, and seeds. In a small saucepan, warm honey/maple syrup, coconut oil, vanilla, and salt. Pour over oat mixture and mix well. Spread on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway. Let cool and mix in dried fruit.
Homemade Muesli
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1/2 cup nuts and seeds (such as almonds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds)
- 1/4 cup dried fruit (such as dates, figs, apples)
- 1/4 cup yogurt or milk
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Mix oats, nuts, seeds, and dried fruit in a bowl. In a separate bowl, mix yogurt/milk, honey/maple syrup, and cinnamon. Pour over oat mixture and stir until well combined. Store in an airtight container in the fridge overnight. Serve with fresh fruit and a drizzle of honey.
